In Saudi Arabia's modernized labor framework, the traditional administrative classification previously called "Huroob" (بلاغ هروب) has been formally restructured into a transparent regulatory procedure designated as "Discontinuation from Work" (انقطاع عن العمل). This service protects employee rights by eliminating arbitrary, instantaneous runaway filings without notice.

Expatriate employees can verify their employment standing and review any notifications submitted by their sponsoring establishment directly through Qiwa.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Check Your Labor Status

  1. Go to the official platform: Qiwa.sa.
  2. Log in using your National Single Sign-On (Nafath) credentials.
  3. Select your Individual Account (أفراد) from the profile switcher.
  4. Navigate to your personal profile summary.
  5. Check the Labor Status (حالة العامل) field:
    • On the Job (على رأس العمل): Your employment is active and legally compliant.
    • Discontinued from Work (منقطع عن العمل): Your employer has submitted an electronic notice of absence.
    • Contract Expired / Terminated: The employment relationship has ended.

Understanding the 60-Day Regulatory Grace Window

If an employer submits a "Discontinuation of Work" report on Qiwa, the Ministry grants the expatriate worker a protected 60-day window from the submission date:

  • Option A (Transfer to a New Employer): Within these 60 days, the worker is legally permitted to find a new sponsor and accept a transfer request on Qiwa without requiring the consent of the previous employer.
  • Option B (Final Exit): The worker can issue their own Final Exit visa through Qiwa during this 60-day period and depart the Kingdom smoothly.
  • Warning After 60 Days: If the worker neither transfers to a new employer nor departs the Kingdom before the 60-day window concludes, their legal standing on Jawazat (Passports) changes to an overstay violation, prohibiting electronic transfers and freezing Absher services.
