Every foreign resident living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds a Muqeem residency card, commonly known as an Iqama. Keeping track of your Iqama expiration date is critical because an expired status freezes your local bank accounts, prevents driver license and vehicle renewals, and incurs compounding monthly delay fines for your sponsoring company.
Here is the verified, up-to-date procedure to verify your residency validity online.
Method 1: Checking via Absher Individuals (Standard Method)
To verify the exact expiration date registered with the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat):
- Access the official public portal at Absher.sa.
- Click on Absher Individuals (أفراد).
- Log in with your National ID / Iqama Number and account password.
- Enter the 4-digit security code (OTP) sent to your mobile.
- On the main dashboard, your Digital ID Profile will be visible.
- Click on your name / profile card to expand full residency details.
- Review the field labeled Iqama Expiry Date, which shows the date in both Hijri (Islamic) and Gregorian formats.
Method 2: Checking via the Tawakkalna Services App
If you need an immediate check without opening a computer browser:
- Open the Tawakkalna Services mobile app and authenticate via Biometrics or OTP.
- Navigate to the bottom tab labeled Digital Wallet.
- Tap on your Digital Iqama card.
- The back of the digital residency card displays your current legal status, job title, sponsor name, and exact expiration date.
What Happens If Your Iqama Expires?
- First-time Delay: A delay fine of SAR 500 is applied if not renewed within the legal grace window.
- Second-time Delay: The renewal fine doubles to SAR 1,000 for repeated delays.
- Banking Disruption: Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) regulations mandate that commercial banks temporarily freeze withdrawals and debit card transactions once a customer's Iqama expires, until proof of renewal is updated.
