Professional Verification Program - SVP (الفحص المهني)
Ministry of Human Resources & Takamol Skill AccreditationVerify if your technical profession requires a mandatory practical skill assessment exam, track accreditation status, and ensure smooth Iqama renewals.
Under the Saudi Vision 2030 labor market quality initiatives, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development enforces the mandatory Professional Skill Verification Program (SVP / الفحص المهني). This framework ensures that expatriate technicians and vocational workers possess proven competence in their declared trades (such as electricians, plumbers, automotive mechanics, welders, and HVAC technicians) before work permits or Iqama cards can be renewed.
Who is Required to Take the Skill Verification Exam?
The program applies to over 1,000 vocational and technical job titles categorized into targeted engineering and craftsmanship clusters. If your Iqama job title falls within an active SVP cluster:
- You cannot renew your work permit (Maktab Amal) or transfer to a new sponsor on Qiwa without a passing test result.
- New expatriates being hired from abroad must pass practical tests at authorized examination centers in their home countries before work visas are stamped.
Step-by-Step: How to Check Your Profession Status on Qiwa
- Go to the official platform: Qiwa.sa.
- Log in using your National Single Sign-On (Nafath).
- Navigate to Professional Verification (الفحص المهني).
- Enter your Iqama Number to view your classification.
- The portal will display your current status:
- Accredited / Passed: Test completed and synchronized with your residency record.
- Exam Required: Must schedule a practical exam through an accredited examination center in Saudi Arabia.
- Exempt: Your professional title does not fall under manual trade testing regulations.
How the Examination is Conducted
If your profession requires testing, your employer books an appointment at an accredited test center via their Qiwa Business portal. The examination consists of two components:
- Theoretical Computer Exam: Multiple-choice questions regarding occupational safety, tools, and technical fundamentals (available in multiple languages including English, Arabic, Urdu, and Hindi).
- Practical Yard Evaluation: Demonstrating hands-on skill execution in front of certified assessors.
