In Saudi Arabia, expatriate residents cannot renew their residency (Iqama) or obtain an Exit Re-Entry visa unless they have an active medical insurance policy registered in the national health insurance database. How to Check Medical Insurance Status Step-by-Step
- Visit the official CHI inquiry service: CHI.gov.sa.
- Navigate to E-Services > Inquire About Insurance Information.
- Select your identifier:
- Iqama Number: For existing residents with a 10-digit residency card.
- Border Number (Raqm Al-Hudood): For new arrivals who haven't received their first physical Iqama card yet.
- Enter the visual verification captcha code shown on the screen.
- Click OK / Inquire.
What Details Will Be Displayed?
If your policy is active, the system will output the following information:
- Insurance Company Name: (e.g., Bupa Arabia, Tawuniya, Medgulf, Tawuniya, Malath).
- Policy Number: The master corporate policy under which you are insured.
- Insurance Expiry Date: The exact date your medical coverage terminates.
- Class / Network: Your assigned coverage tier (VIP, A, B, or C) determining hospital and clinic access.
Why Does Absher Show "No Health Insurance" After Renewal?
When an employer purchases or renews a health insurance policy, it typically takes between 12 to 24 hours for the insurance company to automatically upload the record to the CHI database, which then synchronizes with Jawazat (Passports) and Absher. If Absher blocks your Iqama renewal immediately after payment, check the CHI portal first to verify whether synchronization has completed.
