Update your primary phone number linked to your Absher digital identity to receive OTP login codes, Jawazat alerts, and traffic notices without visiting passport offices.

Every resident in Saudi Arabia requires an active mobile number linked to their Absher account to authenticate two-factor verification codes (OTPs) for government transactions, online banking, and the Nafath app. If you change your telecom provider, lose your SIM card, or switch phone numbers, updating your profile immediately is critical to avoid account lockouts.

Method 1: If You No Longer Have Your Old SIM (Absher App Biometric)

If your old SIM card is disconnected or lost, the official Absher mobile app allows identity verification through camera-based biometric scanning without needing an OTP sent to the old number:

  1. Open the official Absher App on your smartphone (do not log in).
  2. From the pre-login home screen, select Digital Identity Management (إدارة الهوية الرقمية).
  3. Tap on Change Mobile Number (تعديل رقم الجوال).
  4. Enter your Iqama Number and Date of Birth.
  5. Enter the New Saudi Mobile Number (must start with 05 and be registered under your personal Iqama).
  6. Complete the on-screen Facial Biometric Verification using your phone's camera to authenticate your identity against the Jawazat civil database.
  7. Enter the SMS code sent to your new phone number to finalize activation.

Method 2: If Your Old Number is Still Working (Web Portal)

If you can still receive SMS codes on your old phone:

  1. Log in to Absher.sa (Individuals).
  2. Navigate to your User Profile (بيانات المستخدم) in the top corner.
  3. Click on Change Mobile Number.
  4. Enter the new phone number and input the OTP codes received to complete verification.

Method 3: Via Absher Self-Service Kiosk Machines

If facial recognition fails on your mobile phone, visit any 24/7 Absher Self-Service Machine (located inside commercial malls, airports, and Jawazat offices):

  • Select language on the touchscreen (English or Arabic).
  • Tap on Update Mobile Number.
  • Enter your 10-digit Iqama number.
  • Place your index fingers on the fingerprint scanner to confirm identity.
  • Type your new mobile number and enter the confirmation OTP code on the machine screen.
